Guest host Joy Behar: [Your] book is called "I'll Scream Later." Marlee, what does it mean, "I'll Scream Later?"

Marlee Matlin (through her interpreter, Jack): It goes way back to when I was in rehab. ... I got nominated for the Academy Awards while I was in rehab. And Jack asked me over the phone: "What do you want to say?" The press wants an answer. ...

The counselors were looking at me. I couldn't say anything. So I said, "I'll scream later." ...

Marlee Matlin received the Academy Award for best actress for her film debut in "Children of silence."


Marlee Matlin received the Academy Award for best actress for her film debut in "Children of silence." At 21, she became the youngest winner of the Best Actress Oscar. In addition, Marlee also received the Golden Globe Award: Best actress in a drama. Since then, Marlee has appeared in "Waker", "The Player", "Hear No Evil," "It's My Party," and more recently in "What the Bleep Do We Know".

On TV, Marlee starred in "Bridge of CBS silence", a film that marked his role to speak first. Marlee also starred in the television series "Reasonable Doubts" opposite Mark Harmon and was nominated for four Emmy for "Seinfeld," "Picket Fences," "The Practice" and "Law & Order: SVU." Since then, Marlee appeared on "NBC's The West Wing," "Desperate Housewives," "CSI: NY" "My Name is Earl" and "Nip / Tuck." She hosted ABC "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and co-produced "Eddie's Million Dollar Cook Off" for Disney Channel. She recently wrapped its third and final season on Showtime, The L Word "and starred in the sixth model season of ABC "Dancing With the Stars" where she asked America to "read my hips!" In April 2008, Marlee starred opposite Jeff Daniels in the Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation, "Sweet Nothing In My Ear" on CBS. And in April 2009, his autobiography entitled "I'll Scream Later" will be published by Simon and Schuster.

Marlee has contributed to legislation passed in Congress in support of closed captioning and serves on the boards of a number of charities including the American Red Cross, children affected by AIDS and Foundation Easter Seals.
